Traditionally capital of the perfume industry, Grasse is changing and gradually transform its factories. Among the renowned perfumeries that have become part of the city’s historical heritage, Roure closed its doors a few years ago, pending to renovation.
From the start of the 20th century, the Roure-Bertrand house had a worldwide reputation as a major place for the production of natural raw materials and present itself as a driver of scientific and technical innovation with the first synthetic flavors.
The Roure factory is a complex, heterogeneous in terms of the typological diversity of the buildings adapted to their function.
Distributed around courtyards and internal streets to the factory, the administrative or management building, the shipping building, the absolute building or the production workshops, the distiller, with its fireplace and boiler room, and finally to the north-east the hydrocarbon building extended by the wooden hangar of the flower reception room.
These major buildings, preserved after the closure and now registered, are being reused as part of an urban development project, including the rehabilitation of a Gin distillery.
